Exhibition of drawings by Janina Valančiūtė “Kaleidoscope of Being”
Each of us chooses the closest and most accessible way and means of expressing ourselves. I mostly use words and images. Sounds are also a big influence, music inspires me.
I started drawing as a child and never stopped, but I drew with shorter or longer pauses. I tried different techniques, I went to a ceramics studio, I made linen prints. The first solo exhibition of drawings and linen carvings was held at the Lithuanian Medical Library in 1998, and an exhibition of charcoal drawings in 2011.
For this exhibition, I have selected works in charcoal and pastel from the cycles “Fragile Being” and “Grey Cloud”.
We live in an excess of things, feelings, emotions. We are confused in our values, we don’t know what we want anymore, we don’t understand not only others but also ourselves. Where will this lead?
The exhibition invites you to pause and, first of all, to look through the kaleidoscope of your emotions.
