Exhibition of works by Katažyna Sevruk

Katažyna Sevruk lives in Grigaičiai. She was diagnosed from birth with an extremely rare genetic disorder that affects the development of her skull and limb bones. However, this diagnosis has not become an obstacle to her creative path, but on the contrary, art has become an important part of her self-expression and life.

Katažyna graduated from the J. I. Kraševskis Gymnasium in Vilnius. She started drawing when she was only six years old. For more than a decade, she has had a close relationship with the Vilnius Justinas Vienožinskis Art School, and since graduating from the school, Katažyna has continued to attend classes consistently, deepening her knowledge and improving her artistic skills.

Throughout her artistic career, she has tried various drawing techniques: watercolour, felt-tip pens, colored pencils. It was the discovery of oil (pastel) crayons that allowed her talent to emerge in full force. Despite her hands being affected by illness, Katažyna’s work is a true miracle of colour and form.

The artist’s drawings are distinguished by their bright, warm colours and sincere emotional charge. They reflect her inner world and her surroundings: flowers, trees, birds, the sea. Katažyna creates 2-4 drawings a day, putting a lot of work, imagination, dreams, warmth and love into each one. She likes to copy images from books, and often chooses Indian characters.

In her spare time, Katažyna enjoys travelling, watching nature, and taking care of her home. However, her main passion in life is drawing. Her motto in life is simple and clear: draw, draw, draw.

The exhibition will be open until 20 February in the open space on the 3rd floor of the Naujoji Vilnia Culture Centre.
