In July 2025, a 44-kilowatt solar power plant was launched on the roof of the Naujoji Vilnia Cultural Centre, significantly contributing to the energy efficiency of the building and the sustainable development of the centre’s activities.
The new plant can generate around 44 MWh of electricity per year, which is up to 10% of the cultural centre’s total annual electricity demand. This solution will not only reduce energy consumption, but will also make a significant contribution to meeting environmental objectives and reducing dependence on traditional, environmentally unfriendly energy sources.
The project is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by around 13.2 tonnes of CO₂ annually, reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to sustainability and responsible use of resources.
The project was financed through the Climate Change Programme measure “Use of Renewable Energy Sources (Solar, Wind) for the Electricity Needs of the State, Municipalities, Traditional Religious Communities, Religious Communities or Centres” and the Vilnius City Municipality funds.
This is another important example of how cultural institutions can actively contribute to the development of green energy and promote sustainable solutions in the community.
Project implementation period: September 2024 – July 2025.
The total value of the project is €24729.38.
The project is funded by Vilnius City Municipality.
